Danville is a borough on the North Branch of the Susquehanna River, and is the seat of Montour County. The population is around 4,500.

Danville first began to grow when the North Branch of Pennsylvania Canal was built in the area beginning in 1828. It was named the seat of Montour County shortly after the county was created in 1850. Danville prospered as an iron manufacturing center in the mid-1800s, starting with the opening of the first foundry in 1829, and booming from the 1840s through the 1860s. T-rails for railroads were also produced in the borough. When steel began replacing iron in the 1870s, Danville went into decline, but still remained a manufacturing center into the 20th century.

The Montour Trust Company, on Mill Street. The bank was built in 1872 as the Italianate-style City Hotel. The concrete facade was added in the 1920s. To the right of the bank is the Danville Municipal Building, which was formerly the Masonic Temple, and was built in 1920.

The Thomas Beaver Free Library, on Market Street. The library was built in 1886 and originally has a YMCA also operating in the building. The library was named for Thomas Beaver, who funded the library with his money from the Montour Iron Works and the Danville Stove and Manufacturing Company.
