It is absolutely going to look like garbage, but it's going to look super cool to the fans of the bare concrete behemoth. I read earlier on that the way the glass will be installed will render the blow through floor invisible from ground level, I am just hoping that is isn't too disruptive to the frustum pattern + seamless curtain wall of glass from far away, i.e. skyline view.

I was so happy to see you posted that picture of the shadow, you have no idea. Every morning when I look up at the building around 8:00AM, I see that huge beautiful squiggly shadow, and wish I had the technology and know-how to properly capture it in a photograph. I hope to see a couple more shadow pictures from you before they install all of the glass, because I agree with you that it will likely be an unimpressive effect against the green glass. Or maybe it won't be! :shrug:

I'm sure the blow-through floor won't look nearly as bad as the two-story interruption in Aqua about 2/3 of the way up. I don't know if it's a mechanical floor or where they decided to put the building amenities, but it's a pretty glaring flaw in an otherwise beautifully sculptural building.

I'm sure there are strong opinions on here, but they predate my involvement in this forum.

^I hate it. They should have built it 30 levels lower or added 'arbitrary' balconies.

Anybody remember the Architectronica proposal? Those were some blow through floors:tup:

This was today from Harborside International Golf Center. Roughly 14-15 miles from downtown. Vista has already cemented its position in the skyline.

I've admittedly never thought about the Aqua's break in balconies, never bothered me for some reason. Now that you guys have pointed it out, I'm going to wish they added balconies there as well. I am all about height so I'd still rather have those 30 stories!

It's crazy how the Standard Oil Building & John Hancock Center still trump the vista.. even though JHC is nearly a mile behind both.. corporations just don't build massive structures like that anymore.

I think the same when I'm anywhere with a distant view of the city. Sears, AON, and JHC always have the most impact. No matter what the vantage point.

Lol I worded that wrong. I meant the mechanical level should have been lower where the balconies are less prominent, not that the building should have been shorter.
