But why?

Fresh start. You guys will live.

Well I had to take the wife down to the doctor and it looks like they have started working on that Streets of Buckhead thing again. There was a bunch of workers out there and the cranes were moving around.

Well, like I say we had to come into town and it looks like they are working on that Peachtree Boulevard thing, too. They had a bunch of trucks and whatnot out there painting lines all over creation.

flea mall/market

back to the flea mall/flea market thing, i was wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of one in atlanta/metro atlanta. i went to one up in commerce a little while ago and REALLY enjoyed it, i wish there were more of them scattered around the city. the whole place had really interesting things for great prices, as well as wonderful mexican food. it was almost like a little mexico, just too far to drive for me (almost felt like a day trip).

I like Plaza Fiesta on Buford Highway north of Clairmont Road. They have a food court and Mexican street food.

Buford Highway Flea Market, Buford Highway Farmer's Market, Super-H Mart... lots up in the Chamblee/Doraville area.

I saw on wikipedia.com that GUCCI is on the list of boutiques that will locate in the Streets of Buckhead. I'm rather suprised by that considering they did a multi-million dollar renovation of the boutique in Phipps Plaza not to long ago.

However maybe Gucci Inc. wants all thier nameplates in one place since they also own Bottega Veneta, which is also on the list.

They also own Yves Saint Laurant, so it will be interesting to see if The Streets of Buckhead woos them into the complex as well.

Well it looks like GE is bringing 400 big jobs to the ATL.

I hope that's true - it's such an eyesore right now. I haven't seen anything official on the news or in the paper yet. Anyone know more? Are they working all the time now, or was that just a one time thing?

College HOF gets state funds

The state budget passed recently by the Georgia legislature includes $10M to buy land for the College Football Hall of Fame. The 50k SF museum is expected to open in 2012.

YES! That is great! If they're going to open in 2012 I would imagine they have to jump on this pretty quickly right?

Well, there is a thing in the paper that says "Huge deal for Buckhead tower" about Morgan Stanley getting involved in the Terminus situation and some big law firm is moving in and might put its name on top, so who knows.

cybele May 12, 2010 1:36 AM

Well, how is that Cox Tower coming along. Do they have a web cam and so forth?

ATLaffinity May 12, 2010 2:01 PM

Imagine if Cox actually put their HQ in the city.
