10 miles on foot in Brisbane, Australia

In early May, I had a full day for photography in Brisbane at the tail end of a business trip, and walked about 10 miles (16 km) over two separate sessions to cover as much of the downtown area as possible.

Impressive skyline - looks like a clean, modern tropical city. Love all the juice stands, urban beaches, tropical plants, and outdoorsy nature of the city.

Miami on steroids.

Nice photo tour! Brisbane looks like a great city.

ColDayMan Jul 20, 2014 11:03 PM

It seems like a nice, livable core.

mello Jul 21, 2014 9:21 PM

Very comprehensive tour, Brisbane has had huge growth in its skyline in the last 12 years especially for a metro area of around 2.5 million. The design of their condos both tall and shorter is phenomenal in my opinion very sharp and usually creative. Even the pigeons look good! Great parks and pedestrian friendly from what I gather from these pics.

The combo of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane is very enviable for a country of only 25 million people or so  Brisbane is very underrated and if it were here in the states would be a very popular place to live.

POLA Jul 22, 2014 7:02 AM

The old part of town looks nice.

LouisianaRush Jul 23, 2014 12:39 PM

Fantastic photos. I lived in Miami for several years and it kind of reminds me of it, but Brisbane is much cleaner.

Lucky to be able to visit such a nice city.

Great set. I think I could dig Australia.

Ex-Ithacan Jul 24, 2014 10:28 PM

Beautiful looking city. I too noticed how incredibly clean it is. Thanks for the tour.

I was wondering what is going on in this pic. Is it me or is no one paying attention above them?

I'm almost amazed by the sheer absence of homeless people in literally any Aussie city thread. Is it just chance or is it just simply not a problem in Australia?

I totally envy it...all of the major cities in California have SERIOUS problems with homeless people...not to mention our inner cities tend to be filthy as a result.

That aside, Brisbane looks simply wonderful. Love the architecture of the newer, infill-style condos...and the aesthetics of the place remind me of a cross between San Diego, Singapore, and British colony. Intriguing.

sterlippo1 Aug 16, 2014 7:12 PM

^^^ amen to that brother.................Australia looks just so perfect, every thread, every city, every picture, all the same. Looks like they have the best of everything there:worship:
