This question probably has an obvious answer, but what is to be done with the old LSU medical buildings once the new facility is completed?

They will still be used. they are building charitys replacement nothing else.

Ok. Thanks. It had never occurred to me to ask, and I hadn't seen it discussed.

I just came from a meet and greet with Stacy Head. I asked her about the Costco, she said that it is definitely going to happen.

I also drove by the site for the Maestri, if that comes to fruition it will be a big upgrade for that site.

The Maestri will happen. Doesnt need any variances just HDLC approval. ALso dont forget to vote Saturday.

Does Willard-Lewis have any urban-friendly chops? I know Head has been actively recruiting business and spearheading redevelopment for OC Haley and Claiborne, which definitely earns her points in my book. Any Willard-Lewis supporters out there, I'd love to hear why she's a better candidate (seriously, I'm open to persuasion).

Willard-Lewis' website is a 1990s-era joke and her proposed platform seems to be throwing more money at every problem. I hope she has a real strategy...

I dont want to distract this forum from development but the at Large race does have an effect. Willard Lewis is a throw back to politics of the past. Stacey Head isnt perfect, no candidate ever is, but she is proactive in encouraging development. I voted early last week. Hope Head prevails! The mayors endorsement of Willard Lewis was strictly racial and I think thats sad!

Oh and its also important to note that Willard Lewis hails from New Orleans East so I dont think she has many urban-friendly ideas.

Nice article on NOLA's growing creative economy and more specifically the film industry. I love hearing our city compared to Greenwich Village or Haight-Ashbury.

I know this isn't technically about development, but I love reading these types of articles. It reminded me of something I used to do, which was just type "new orleans" into google news and see what popped up.

Here is a new map of concessions and stores around MSY. Notice the new "Cajun Clothing" is a mini-Perlis, and the new Saints store, with LED-changing Superdome hanging from the ceiling, to match the colors of the real Superdome.

The Dunkin Donuts is awesome. Better coffee + baked goods that are actually edible? Who needs PJs? That PJs in particular always had surly staff, too.

I also like the new furniture they show in the rendering... seriously, guys, it's time to dump the gross teal chairs.

Another change noted on the airport FB page was Dooky Chase replacing the ACME location in the C lobby. They also plan on reopening Concourse A for Super Bowl traffic. Sounds like a temporary thing.

Stacy Head won... good news for our city.

The split was only 281 votes (out of nearly 56000 who voted) so this was one instance where I definitely feel like my vote counted for something.

I also think the streetcars need to have a much stronger focus on speed though. I'm tired of this attitude that the slow lumbering streetcar doesn't need to go faster because we have a "slow pace of life" but in reality only tourists can afford to burn 40-50 minutes getting to the CBD. I can't say I really have a problem with the speed, but more the unpredictiable schedule. I can work around a slow streetcar ride, so long as I have an idea of the pick-up/arrival times. It could be me but I have always noticed that one can spend 20-30 minutes waiting for a car, then have 2-3 arrive literally 1-2 minutes apart. The streetcars here seem to travel no slower than those in SF, the difference is SF has a schedule that is adhered to, thus making it easier to use the service without fear of being late for an appointment.
