How is the construction of these coming along? And is there going to be retail on the ground floor? Sorry, i've forgot.

According to this article is does not appear to have a retail component.

The project includes resort-style amenities, such as a pool with cabanas and hammocks, outdoor kitchens, fire pits and a rooftop deck with downtown views. A clubhouse on the property includes a catering kitchen, dining areas, lounges with televisions and fitness center—yoga studio included. The property also comes with a large parking garage and bike storage rooms.
The project site is right around the corner from Cevallos Lofts, another luxury apartment complex that has done well with occupancy.

As posted in the Urban Development thread.

An updated rendering of Southtown Flats.

Just for reference.

This was the original design.

I took a few photos while I was home.

Together with Cevallos, it makes quite the impression.

Can anybody get a shot of what this looks like at night?

This is probably my favorite of the apartment boxes that have sprung up so far, looks really good. It would be nice if Probandt wasn't the world's ugliest/most dangerous street for pedestrians, though.

I agree. I really enjoy the mix of color in the building.

With the railroad tracks and that street as wide as Probandt is, it definitely should be something to address at public meetings of sorts... or something.

AHHHH Hello people! It is not that bad. And it is called "urban living".
A pedestrian walkway is all that is needed.
Too much negativity.....:slob:

Not trying to get personal or anything like that, but I have noticed a pattern in your posts. Your posts always contain "negative" feedback when it is not warranted. Just an observation....
Enjoy the developments.....

You're very right! Spread the love.

On the plus side, the negativity was directed at the street and not the project.

I hope the city does something about all the power lines in this area.

Negative feedback is always warranted. This project is great, but Probandt sucks and is one of the most dangerous streets downtown for pedestrians and cyclists, that's just a fact.

I'm not going to parrot the "City on the Rise" baloney that the Rivard Report and others promote constantly. It's overly optimistic to the point of being slightly nauseating. The new stuff around downtown is by and large a good thing, but as an SA native, as I bike and walk around this city, I see a whole lot of stuff that could be a whole lot better. Criticism is healthy, so I decline to put on the rose colored glasses, thanks.
