Would New Orleans would be a great choice for hosting an olympic games???

I say Yes. We are still affected by the scars that Katrina left us, but our city has come back alive. This decade would be years of celebration. Sports events like Super Bowl 2013, BCS Championship, the Final Four, and Sugar Bowl (Every year). Also the 200th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans in 2015 and the 300th year of New Orleans in 2018. New Orleans is coming back stronger than ever and I think that we can host an international sports event in 2028.

After Katrina, New Orleans was devastated. New Orleans needs to care more about rebuilding their city than to host the olympics.

Who knows about the olympics, but, with New Orleans projected to pass pre-Katrina population in 2014, we better hope we are way beyond Katrina recovery by 2028!! LOL!! It's a 10 year recovery and we're well on track for all but, little (if any) signs of the storm within 3 or so years.

The city is supposed to pass its 2004 population by 2014? How in the world is that? Thats massive growth.

I hope that we can recover by 2028. About the olympics, Yes we can, we have more than half of the venue needed in the city!!!

Olympic Kommisars don't want old facilities. They want new expensive ones that put countries into Greek situation. New Orleans is a wonderful city, why ruin it with debt-ridden stadiums that sit empty for decades afterward?

New Orleans is quite a ways from hosting the Olympics. It's very likely that a city in India or Africa will host the Olympics in 2024 and 2028.

India unlikely in the near future given the fallout re: the 2010 CWG.

It doesn't have to be new. Some of these venues can be renovated. Greece was doom before awarding them the olympics. They did host a great game but they build too much venues just to show they have great stadiums that are locked up and graffiti.

India Failed miserably, but I do agree their main stadium is beautiful.

No, and unfortunately probably never. The only city in the south that has a chance is Dallas. Dallas along with Chicago and New York are the top three potential U.S. bids for 2024. The USOC decided to pass on a possible bid for the 2022 winter games and are focusing entirely on summer 2024 games. Dallas is expected to be a big contender for the spot because the IOC is looking for a venue that is not like every other big city the games are usually hosted in (i.e. Chicago, London, LA, New York, Paris, Tokyo etc.). The IOC has also made it clear that money will be an issue and the DFW metroplex already has 80% of the structures needed to host the games, more than any of the other international or US bids.

I highly doubt it would ever happen but it would be nice. City Park would probably be transformed into Olympic Park with the Olympic Stadium being built where Tad Gormley is currently. Lake Pontchartrain and Bayou St. John cleaned up for the outdoor water events. Not to mention the massive amounts of infrastructure improvements that would take place. It would be nice but an extremely slim chance of happening...

Also Atlanta, Their considering bringing it back to Atlanta for the 125th anniversary, you remember they hosted the 100th...LOVE THAT CITY ATLANTA:)
