Normandy Then and Now

Interesting site with photos of France in 1944 and the same places today.

Beautiful collection of pictures. It is amazing to see how unchanged some of the places are, even 70 years later.

My father was with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion that was the first Canadian unit on the ground on D-Day. He never spoke to us about his experience in the war and today I realize that he likely never recovered from what today is described as PTSD. These photos remind me that I must someday visit Normandy to acknowledge the sacrifice.

I recently bought the "Band of Brothers" DVD collection. I've heard it was the most accurate depiction of D-Day and beyond. They were truly the greatest generation ever.
