Obviously you get some sub-20C days in September in southern Ontario and southern Quebec, but most days are still at least 20C or even around 25C at least until mid-month.

It's likely related to the fact that the seasonal lag/change in Western Canada is on a different "calendar" from that of central and eastern Canada.

That's why you guys usually warm up quite a bit earlier than us in the spring.

Yeah Vancouver quickly goes to shit right after labour day, then suddenly it's dark at 4:30 instead of 10pm and you can go weeks/months without seeing sunlight. Made back to school dread even worse.

As for Canadian winter preference, I don't mind cold (-5 is cold) but hate snow. LA weather is ideal to me though, 20-35 all year long.

Very tropical feeling here today with a humidex reading of 42 and a 24C dew point!

MonctonRad Sep 7, 2016 12:49 AM

25C out in Moncton with a humidex of 35 at 9 PM!!!!!!

It's like a sauna out there........ :frog:

Supposedly this is all tropical air transported north by Hermine. The storm is still stalled off Long Island, so this weather will continue for the next few days.

Skygazer Sep 7, 2016 12:58 AM

It's currently 17C and partly cloudy in Vancouver. It was 15C and fully overcast when I was out earlier today. Highs below 20C for the foreseeable forecast (we quite possibly had our last 20C day of the year last week) and mostly cloudy with showers the next few days.

I'm probably one of the few people here who actually likes fall. I love summer weather during the summer, but once September rolls around I welcome the return of cooler, cloudier weather. Of course, the fact that we have mild winters definitely helps - I hated fall when I lived in Saskatoon. But out here I definitely enjoy it and can't wait until I can start wearing my peacoat and scarf again :)

I do wish we didn't have so many rainy days from November through March, though. I love the temperatures and don't even mind the clouds, but 15 to 20 days of rain per month for nearly half the year is excessive.

I wish every day was like this.

Heat Warning in effect again today, very topical with a high of 32C with humidex readings back up into the low 40s. I'm ready for more Fall like weather at this point, but I'm sure these sultry summer days are numbered.

Trevor3 Sep 7, 2016 11:58 AM

After a chilly long weekend our temps jumped back up to a high of 25C yesterday - and brutally humid. Today it's forecast to go to 24C, but there's fog so think you can barely see across the street. That's one of the amusing things about this province:

On the west coast: "Look at this fog. What a miserable day. I hope it clears off"
On the east coast: "Light drizzle and fog to start your morning, it's going to be a beautiful day"

SignalHillHiker Sep 7, 2016 12:44 PM

:haha: So true.

It's going up to 25C in St. John's today, unusually warm for this time of year. :) Overcast with sunny breaks.

Nicko999 Sep 7, 2016 4:26 PM

A gorgeous 28C with 100% clear skies yesterday (humidex reached 31;)). The low this morning was very comfortable at 17C.
Early September is usually our driest period. We had 0.4 mm on Sep 1st and nothing since. I still remember our 18 consecutive days rain-free period a few years ago that started September 1st.

north 42 Sep 7, 2016 7:08 PM

43 humidex reading and a 25C dew point, gross!

travis3000 Sep 7, 2016 9:04 PM

Toronto hit 35C today, all time record for September 7th. With humidity it felt more like 43C, the hottest day of the year so far.

Nicko999 Sep 8, 2016 5:01 AM

29C with a humidex of 36 today. Sunny with some clouds late afternoon. Not quick as hot as Southern Ontario (and not a record) but warm enough to be a fully summer day (with AC on).

mcminsen Sep 8, 2016 7:23 AM

What a difference a day makes. It was a good day for ducks in Vancouver. It was wet most of the day and we got a good soaking. High ~17 C, low ~13 C.

Looks like some summer like weather will be returning after the weekend for Vancouver, Make the best of it.

SignalHillHiker Sep 8, 2016 12:41 PM

Overcast, foggy in the harbour, drizzle on the hills. :) Few snaps from a quick run to Subway, lol:

Another hot one today with a Heat Warning and a high of 30C and a humidex reading of 40.

Very muggy over night last night, the low only dropped to 24.4C, as well as a 35 humidex and a dew point of 23C, like soup! Relief is coming soon though.

MonctonRad Sep 8, 2016 1:49 PM

Another hot one in Moncton - projected to be 28C this afternoon. The current humidity is 82%. The tropical air stirred up by Hermine continues to afflict the southern Maritimes.

TownGuy Sep 8, 2016 2:20 PM

Very tropical feeling here also. Rainforest vibe going on with the muggy overcast conditions.

Trevor3 Sep 8, 2016 2:24 PM

17C rain, rainfall warning in effect for 2 days in a row now.

What fresh hell is this?

Denscity Sep 8, 2016 9:18 PM

Here's an interesting weather comparison between West and East today: Sport Chek has sold more skis and boards in Kelowna alone than all of Ontario haha!
