They are to go along SW 1st Ave near where the Metrorail goes under I-95 forming a triangle. A 2 building, 9-story project called Habitat Brickell will go in the area too.

here is a map of the triangle:

The list says that Soleil is UC. Can anyone confirm foundation work has begun??

dave8721 Apr 26, 2006 6:14 PM

Most of the buildings discussed can be seen in this pic but the Soliel Site is pretty much blocked out by the Midtown buiding in the foreground. Soliel is going between the shiny 10-story office buiding and the low yellow buildings. Doesn't look like much going on to me.

Dave, what construction project is it that I always see from the I-95 north/ US-1 South on ramp (just before it splits) coming from Key Biscayne? It has been underconstruction for a while and I still don't know what it is. For all I know, it could have been finished since the last time I've been to Miami.

It took me a few seconds to figure out what you were talking about but after looking at Google maps it looks like this building would be directly infront of you if you were coming on the Rickenbacker Ramp towards I-95/US-1. Its Nordica.

And why do you suppose all these different sources (including now the downtown development authority) are saying they are under construction??

Dale Apr 27, 2006 3:02 PM

Soleil is easily the most under construction not under construction project in Miami.

You could put Met3 up there too. Emporis even has Infinity II under construction. There are actual buildings still standing on that site that have't even been demolished yet.

brickell Apr 27, 2006 5:54 PM

I was going to say Met3 too, but at least there's actually something going on there. Collonade (Dadeland) is another one that cleared early and ended up shifting dirt for months.

Check out this cool interactive map created by the Miami Herald showing all the new planned towers around the new PAC:

does anyone know when 1101 brickelll will start construction?

dave8721 May 1, 2006 2:29 PM

Brickell Flatiron goes before the Planning Board on May 3rd but on the downside it looks like it has been chopped down to 794 feet.

My guess is it wont start for a year or two at least. They haven't even started Sales yet.

bobdreamz May 1, 2006 3:18 PM

that PAC map is very interesting...didn't know they were going to have so many highrises!

dave8721 May 2, 2006 3:13 PM

A cool image made by Paul305 over at ssc showing the outlines of many planned towers in the Brickell area. I'd say thats some change:

These are all of the buildings that I know of that have been proposed or approved with their highest possible height. Some of them will probably be shorter and some of them may not happen at all, but then again many new projects will come up too.
