Hi i plan on building a deck this summer and i am wondering how high i can build a privacy fence on a deck?


new on here so please be nice :)

max two metres off the deck ... same as building a fence off the ground.

(My last deck was 18 inches off the ground with a two metre high fence)

BTW, the city has an awesome website to look up these things. It would have been quicker.

Thanks for the reply. i did look at the building code (700 pages) nothing about fence on deck that i seen while skimming. I also refered to tacboc which didnt have the answer. What site were you refering to? (building code for ontario). Do you know any local architect who can assist me. I am starting a deck business this summer and will need an architect to draw or stamp design for city.

Someone with experience in this field will be able to give you advice. My neighbour got a fence installed this week by Total Fence Inc. Located in Nobleton, Ontario, they can provide you with information about bylaws.
