NEW YORK | Linc LIC | LIC | 429 FT / 131 M | 42 FLOORS

Well, we have another residential tower going up in LIC. This one was iced a few years ago after foundations were completed, but it's back up and running. Architect is Malhotra and developer is Rockrose, so expect 2 Gold quality here.

LIC's skyline is evolving rather rapidly. One or two 400' towers would go completely unnoticed in Manhattan, but when you only have a few of those to begin with, the impact is much more significant.

As the other developments along the river continue rising, LIC will actually begin to feel much more like Manhattan. I'd really like to see some additional buildings in excess of 500' begin to rise, though.

damn i wish Brooklyn was getting this much attention...but nice tower for LIC.

RoldanTTLB Sep 14, 2011 8:48 PM

More taller buildings in LIC would be nice, but it seems there's enough space that can be developed that it's not necessary yet. The second Gotham Center tower would be that height, but the lot is currently just flat gravel and fenced off. How unfortunate. The Rockrose site across the street from this, where they intended to build 10 Court Square is also only about 400 ft tall. Who knows if they'll ever finish the tower portion of the other Court Square building.

Hopefully I'll be able to get more photos of this as it rises out of the ground in the next few weeks. The foundation is not particularly deep, so I doubt it will take long. Another tower just a few blocks from here is 27 stories and nearly 300 ft. I've not made a post about it since there's almost no information about it whatsoever.

There should be a 1,000+ footer skyscraper in LIC that would act as a signature skyscraper to everything that is being built now.

I think this is the thread you are looking for Roldan.

Can't link to a pic from my phone easily, but it's not one of the east coast towers. It's immediately next to the stalled (and ruined) foundations of the star tower. I'll add a pic when I get home later.

That rendering looks like a mess.

Awesome man, thanks. This is going to knock out one of the 2 ugly blank walls in the nabe. Sadly, this is the blank wall that was facing away from Manhattan and not towards it like the other.

Justin Elghanayan at the site of Linc LIC, a 42-story tower planned for Long Island City.

Quote:

The Rockrose Development Corporation has started construction on a 42-story rental tower with 709 apartments that is expected to be among the largest residential developments in the area — and one of the tallest buildings in the borough — when completed in 2013.

The apartments in the tower, which will be called Linc LIC, at 43-10 Crescent Street, will range from 450-square-foot studios to 1,400-square-foot three-bedrooms. They will have parquet floors and “Rockrose standard” flecked granite counters, and in many cases, washers and dryers, said Justin Elghanayan, a principal of Rockrose, which is led by his father, Henry.

At this point, with all of the fantastic developments going up in Queens, I might just move there instead. A little cheaper, and you get a great view of Manhattan itself.

Likewise with Brooklyn, but their recent developments don't have the "wow" factor that Queens does. Yet, at least.

I know this is off the island but if anyone can get a pic of this it would be great it's been over a month without one

Danielson27 Dec 14, 2011 10:09 PM

:previous: just saw it on my way home on the N train; they are working on the 7th floor now

^ Hey at least you live a good 100 feet in the air from all the sleazyness AND (telling from the pics) REALLY close to the tallest building in QUEENS. Does your penthouse have 360 view or just of Manhattan?

CarlosV Jan 30, 2012 3:01 AM

I am actually 300 feet up from ground...my apt faces manhattan, brooklyn and queens but all views are west to south....i have 360 degree views from my sundeck.

Great tower ! That's how every tower should be built, slender and elegant. :)
