Not really a canyon yet, but certainly a very tall cliff.

That picture, nice as it is, would perhaps feel more at home in the skyscraper thread.

Usually urban canyons in Calgary are east to west....here's a north to south canyon in the west end.

Great picture on the front page of urbantoronto today of the canyon looking through TD Centre to the back of the Royal York Hotel:

St-Jacques street. Formerly Canada's Wall street.

Univertisy street has a nice canyon :-)

This is the St-Antoine street canyon. The entire block on the right will be cleared for 3 towers, all of which 120m in height. On the left, CF's Deloitte tower is currently rising. St-Antoine may not become downtown's most vibrant street, but it will become one of the 'main' canyons.
http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3738/1...e696ac79_b.jpg The north side of Rene-Levesque. It was supposed to welcome two new towers of 120m. Both projects have been cancelled, repeatedly cancelled. So, no street wall here any time soon. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3759/1...be093cdb_b.jpg |
University is similar to University Ave in Toronto as well as York Street.

The back side of the Bell Centre is beyond ugly. Just look at that discoloured sheet metal... Too bad it was built in such a prominent location. I much prefer the look of Winnipeg's arena.
I quite like the effect that the Courtyard Marriott has had on René-Lévesque. Most of the buildings are grey/beige, and it has added some much needed contrast. It would be great if something tall eventually gets built where the Revenue Canada building is. |
Took this photo over 1 year ago

Is that Dorchester?
|
Montreal and Calgary seem to have the best canyons (probably followed by Ottawa, but maybe Edmonton).
