Two Days in Winnipeg
 

Had an opportunity to spend two days in Winnipeg Manitoba about a month ago. Mr 1ajs was kind enough to meet up with me the first day and give me a tour. The second day I wandered around alone. Pictures are from September 3 and 4 2013.

Thanks headhorse. I enjoyed my time there very much. Edmonton could learn some lessons from Winnipeg on both heritage preservation (Exchange) and riverfront development (Forks). Exchange was just unreal.

Winnipeg has a lot of nice older architecture. The sidewalks seem kind of quiet, though.

That may be partly my fault. When shooting architecture I will wait for people to clear my frame before shooting if possible. Plus, the first day I shot was a stat holiday.

Nice collection! If y'all want some trivia, the building in your second photo appears on the cover of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "The Lookout" and the exterior is used as his apartment throughout the film.

Anyways, in regards to your photo tour, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here. You captured some of our more prominent buildings quite nicely. The editing on your take on the Legislature makes it look as if you took that photo in 1916!

Great and creative shots. Among those that really stand out are the Avenue Building, the Art Gallery and the Museum/Planetarium. Great work...

I really like the look of Winnipeg, such an amazing blend of the old with the shiny new. Your photos show this nicely. Where are the people? There is little if any street level activity in almost every picture.

Reminded me of a recent set of imagery I viewed about a city that has seen as many people leave as Winnipeg has in population total - Detroit.
