New York Metropolitan Area: Westchester County

So this is the tour of the city's northern suburbs and sattelite cities in the county just north of the Bronx, Westchester. There was plenty up here to see although I only covered the southern half of the county. You can see all the neighborhoods I covered at the Naked New York tour...http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2202

Where urbanity, good suburbia, and nature meet. Nice job.

I'm feelin' these tours!

Yep, it certainly gives LA burbs some competition. My wife and I drove through some of these areas back in October during our northeast vacation. I've been through Westchester in the past but never in the fall, it is really beautiful.

I was wondering if the Clinton's live in New Rochelle?

Thanks nygirl1, I look forward to checking out all of your threads.

It's amazing how far the urbanity and charm stretches in the NYC area. This tour really gives me a good feeling.

nygirl1 Jan 21, 2011 5:44 PM

Sweet! If you guys ever get a chance head on over to the complete tours in the ssc ny subsection unter the title "Naked New York" well over 400 neighborhoods up to 100+ plus shots each thread. It took me 2 years to cover the area.

Teakwood Jan 21, 2011 6:41 PM

Thank you so much for letting me relive great memories. An absolutely beautiful and underrated part of the NY metro. Is there going to be a Fairfield, CT tour coming?

As far as I know they are still living in Chappaqua, in northern Westchester.

HHC Jan 21, 2011 7:00 PM

This is a suburb!?!?! HOT DAMN!! It looks more urban than any west coast/southern inner city out there.

MolsonExport Jan 21, 2011 7:17 PM

Lovely suburbs, great density, excellent topography. Nice photos.

The land of the famous TalB.

nygirl1 Jan 21, 2011 11:59 PM

Wow Molson you are so right! I failed to reach as far as his neck of the woods, however. Yeah when I was walking around this place part of me imagined what it must have been like to grow up in any of the communities. I can't explain the feeling Westchester gave me but it felt like home.

More tours to come from my collection. I'm thinking of doing it in themes. My first will be "downtown" collections outside of Manhattan.

Expat Jan 22, 2011 12:46 AM

^These neighborhoods feel like home to me, too.

The Clintons presently live in Chappaqua but supposedly bought a house in Bedford, which is home to many famous actors.

A famous resident (former -- at least) of New Rochelle was Thomas Paine who wrote Common Sense around the time of the American Revolution.

Here is his house:

Since NYC is the greatest city in the US, it makes sense that its suburbs are also the greatest. Westchester County is so much cooler than most major cities in the nation... and so much more expensive too.

ChiTownCity Jan 24, 2011 6:15 PM

Yonkers looks a little mysterious to me... wad up to Jadakiss...
