TORONTO | Sapphire Tower | 1,107' Pinnacle / 933' Roof | 88 FLOORS | NEVER BUILT

Proposal has been rejected by City Council in it's current form due to concerns over shadowing on a public square. Possible next move: Redesign or OMB Appeal. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen this one.

That's a pretty cool tower. I never did understand the shadow rules... They have them in Denver too, drives me nuts...

This thing's only a few metres from Trump. I don't get it. Nathan Phillips gets shadows already.

Looks like a Shanghai-style building.

Even if approved, it is unlikely this project would have ever gone up. The developer filed for bankruptcy and failed to get the project to go up when he transplanted it to another city.

I'm sorry, I think that's one of the most atrocious looking buildings I've ever seen.

I'm very glad that this was cancelled, it was a horrific building. Some people seem to only care about height, rather than architectural quality and street treatment. Sapphire failed on both counts. Besieds, if it was approved it likely would have stopped construction halfway through when Sintson ran out of money.

Why do you figure that this building fails in architectural quality?
