[Burnaby] Chancellor | 110m | 37 floors | Completed

Can't believe no one has started a thread about this one yet. It is going to be one of the top 5 in BC outside of Downtown Vancouver when completed.

The excavation is well underway and foundation pouring may have already started by now. :)

I would like to know the Construction Contractor or Consultants of this project?
Can somebody provide me the information?
Or Polygon has its own Construction group?
Thanks,

This one is looking quite prominent in the Metrotown area now.

Here are some pics I took today:

Yellow Fever pics dated March 15, 2013 from SSC -
Great looking tower - very sleek.
Podium should be taller at that location though. There are lowrise office blocks just to the north on Nelson St.

The treatment of the podium is quite suburban, as you point out. Fortunately, both Metroplace and Sovereign have a surprising level of "big city" expression to their podiums, even moreso than most downtown Vancouver residential towers.

officedweller Mar 18, 2013 9:04 PM

I think this one is more suburban because it has Bonsor Park on one side - even though it is across from those office buildings and a stone's throw from Hudson's Bay at Metropolis.

Tower looks quite nice in those shots, I'm looking forward to checking it out in person.

The podium does look very suburban, but lets keep in mind this is the suburbs... I love streetwalls but they aren't appropriate on every street, some streets are great with just 2-3 levels.

Sure, but this particular street already has an established urban/commercial flavour. The project sits on a busy intersection with traffic lights, and there is a shopping mall and two office buildings (3 storeys and 9 storeys) directly on other side of the street. Given where the neigbourhood is right now, a more urban form is called for. But when you consider where this neighbourhood (which sits in the heart of Metrotown) will be in just a few years, the use of a suburban form becomes grossly short-sighted.
