Shanghai - Shanghai Tower, 128 storeys, 632m :D

No shortage of construction here (mostly infill) but sadly our tallest here is the Louis-Boheme, 28 floors and its topped off. Once this building will be finished I believe our tallest will be some barn in the west-island or some triplex on Rene-Levesque....

I don't ever want to see something that ridiculously tall in Calgary, we don't need anything like that and it would just ruin our skyline.

It sure would, but a well located 300m would be nice.:)

Maybe even a 350m!

I like how Canadian skylines just have a lot of smaller towers, not a few really tall ones. Makes for a more visually pleasing skyline IMO.

feepa Oct 25, 2009 10:10 PM

Edmonton has Epcor Tower under construction. Will be about 450 feet/137m, or Edmonton second tallest.

After the Louis-Boheme, the tallest U/C in Greater Montreal will be the Blu Rivage in Longueuil at 25 stories.

yeah but i don't consider longueuil part of montreal...i reckon le vistal (25 fl) will still be u/c or maybe by then that 31 floor hotel on cathcart will be u/c.

bedford, the Louis-Boheme is 87m by the way.

Quebec City tallest U/C is Complexe Jules-Dallaire... The official height is unknown I think. I would guess something around 75m.

Ottawa's tallest currently under construction is EDC (Export Development Canada). At 78m it's another stumpy box for our CBD, but a nice box and a LEED Gold box at that!

Yes, you're right, it would. But in Shanghai it's perfectly suited to the skyline, given its location near a 421m, 492m, and a whole bunch of 200-300m towers.

A nice 300-350m tower would look REALLY good in Calgary, in the right location.

maybe winnipeg's wouldnt win goofiesst either, now that i see mississauga's...i didnt know they were actually building that....cant wait to see how it turns out.

ottawa's box is nice.

99% sure the Hilton in Hamilton is not under construction. I don't know what is the tallest either

London - a toss up between 4 12 storey apartment blocks (60,70 capulet, 180 mill, 1503 Hyde)
Windsor - 12 storeys "Amica at Windsor"
Brampon - 27 storeys "Park Place"
Richmond Hill - 14 storeys "The Richmond"
Markham - 13 storeys "Eden Park Towers"
Vaughan - 18 storey "Centre Park Towers"

Wow O-Town!, I had never seen these renderings. It's nicer than I had expected. The feds are still creating the boxes for downtown Ottawa but at least, with this one, they're trying something different... or should I say, they're trying something for once. I bet that top corner terrace will be a sweet spot for an espresso bar in the summer. mmm... food for thought.

I guess we can have a bit of hope for the other 4-5 buildings they will soon need.

It's hard to get anything over 30 floors to be built in Montreal.

These 5 towers are approved too: I don't know which one is going to be our tallest U/C between those or Altitude Montréal... Probably Altitude. (~115m)

I thought it was confirmed to go to 149m, making it slightly taller than our current tallest?

Here is a photo of the new courthouse U/C in Moncton. At five storeys, it is currently the tallest building under construction in the city.

There are other five storey buildings under construction in Moncton as well (it seems like a popular number), including the new Casino NB hotel. The casino is the most expensive project under way in the city at present, with a value of about $100M.

The diagram for Edmonton has EPCOR listed as 149.4m, making it taller than Manulife place at 146m.

Cataclaw Oct 26, 2009 3:54 PM

Cool list, thanks!

If i may make one comment : if you're going to consider Mississauga as a separate city (and not part of greater Toronto) then Longueuil and its 25-storey Blu Rivage project should be distinct from Montreal.

Could you add Blu Rivage to the list?

Thanks :)

Finally a list that Ottawa can be on... We couldn't make 'ten tallest u/c,' 'tallest u/c #11-30', 'Top 15 proposals' or 'The Great Canadian Skyline thread for cities 500,000 and under' :D

Whistler was really angry when he made the top ten lists in the main thread..

(.ie top ten tallest, top ten proposals, top ten whatever)

He felt he was being harrassed by certain members here and that was his chance to stick it.. but I kinda like them(those threads) in the fact they let people outside the country see how we stack up against their tallest building proposals in a pretty concise way.

That's actually why I created this thread. I like the current threads and all but they are Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto dominated and well how often do you see photos of Saskatoon or Moncton in the Canada section?
