Looks good! Hopefully it has a good street level design as seen in the rendering.
|
Demolition has been taking place in a section of the Allen House Apartments where the tower would likely be built.
This post from Swamplot also implies as much. |
I've been praying for them to start something. They tore down the majority of the Allen House apartments years ago and the land is just sitting there while other proposals go up all around it...

Per the Houston Business Journal, construction is slated to begin this month.
This is also the first mention of the site actually being linked, in any way, to nearby Regent Square. Had been curious about that due to the developer and the location's proximity to the larger planned development. And we're under construction...

They started construction on this building months ago. |
Not quite. It looks like they're still doing site prep. They have a Facebook page now, and they were still removing trees from the site just last week.

From the facebook page, this one's slowly starting to come along.

That last shot is amazing. Incredible views of downtown and look at all of that recent townhome infill in North Montrose/4th Ward. Still say the city should invest in a trolley line down West Dallas from Shepherd to Downtown.
|
That's interesting about the crane base. I always knew they had pieces they encased in concrete and then attached the crane to that, but I've never actually seen it.
|
I like it, but I think Houston needs to move away from that tan/brown color in buildings.
|
|
I haven't seen that tower crane on the horizon yet, but it must be an impressive sight.
