Foundation work has started for yet another new high-rise on the site of the formerly-proposed “Star Tower,” in Long Island City, as reported by The Court Square Blog. YIMBY followed up on the initial report to find that the new building’s filing address has been changed to 27-17 42nd Road.

Per the DOB, the building is expected to rise 25 stories and 258 feet to the roof. The filings only list the building’s entire area of 221,266 square feet (mechanical space included), and 184 residential units will spread across the majority of that space. Retail will also occupy most of the ground floor, according to the Schedule A.

Foundation work begins at 28-02 42nd Road

The last time we checked in at 27-17 42nd Road (a/k/a 28-02 42nd Road) was in December when we noted that the building had risen 20 stories.1 When we stopped by last week, we saw the building has topped out, as seen in the photo below.

The former site of the proposed “Star Tower” back in 2008 had been vacant for many years before the lot sold for a princely sum in 2014.2 A new round of permits were approved on the site in December, 2014

It's nice that this block developed as separate projects instead of one larger development- As opposed to other projects in the neighborhood like gotham west, or the 5 points project. It gives this block a manhattan look as opposed to an outer borough look.

But do they all have to go for the same blue/green glass look?
