One of Pelli's best, imo, but it seems that there aren't many good photos of it on the net. Those two, below, are form Pelli's official web site.

That's really pretty. I dig it. I like most of Pelli's stuff, in fact - he's one of the few big names operating today whose stuff I actually enjoy.
It is one of my favorite's too.
So many great buildings in Chicago! This one doesn't get talked about much anymore it seems.
I love Pelli. This tower looks just like the Society Tower in Cleveland but without the crown.
Wasn't the Miglien-Beitler skyneedle supposed to be a 2000' stretched version of that building? And wasn't it supposed to be loated right across the street?
It's my favorite Pelli after IFC and BoA in Charlotte. |
...

^ yep. it's a beautiful building, but it's in a horrible location in terms of skyline presence. in any other midwest city, this building, at 681' tall, would be one of the shining gems in the skyline, but plopped down in the thick of chicago's loop, this very handsome tower just gets buried, so you have to physically go and seek it out if you want to see it.
One of Chicago's best, but in the Worst spot possible. It needs a more prominent location.
I agree 100% with the last three posts. I wish this guy was on Wabash or Wacker. It is truly a hidden gem. Even the name is tends to be forgettable.
Yeah, that building is terribly located. I know I've seen pictures of it before, but I don't think I've ever seen it in the skyline. I don't have any sense of where it is relative to anything else. It must be totally obscured in the typical skyline views.
It's a shame, because it's nice. It would really stand out in any smaller city. |
This is what happens to many NYC buildings.
well, evidently, pelli is gonna get another shot at a chicago building, but in a teensy bit more prominent location. I never even knew this building existed, honestly...
I love it! probably my favorite of his
it is in a bad location. even so, it needs to be around 800 ft
:previous: Well, there was supposed to be a 2000' 'twin' built across the street.

Nice photo !
The facade reflects the sky in a subtle way. Pelli did a good job... |
