Looks very nice!

Beautiful building. STL is getting a sharp looking building with this one.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Highrise Proposals section until construction takes place.

Muji Jun 28, 2007 2:12 PM

nice. Looks like St. Louis lucked out!

newstl2020 Jun 28, 2007 9:59 PM

If any mods swing buy this should be in the proposals section as of right now. The financing is complete, site is cleared, sales center is up and running, and all approvals for construction have been cleared by the city. The only thing is, they haven't yet started! This will be fully underway by the end of July, but until then, we're in the wrong place!

Looking forward to being able to have it moved back to u/c!

Well I am very pleased to say that despite a bit of a delay, drilling for the caissons for Roberts Tower in downtown St. Louis began this morning, 10/01/07. First new all residential construction in downtown in an extremely long time. The turnaround is well under way, this just solidifies it even more.

Earth is moving on this one, baby!

SJPhillyBoy Oct 2, 2007 12:45 PM

Great. So how tall is it? How many floors?

newstl2020 Oct 2, 2007 8:17 PM

Well we have had some slightly conflicting information regarding final height and number of floors on this tower. I'm going to be back in St. Louis for each of the next two weekends with literally nothing to do, so I will have some great photo updates and I will try to grab some info on the final height of the building (It has to be on file for them to have construction permits, correct?). I will say that when I was in the sales center over the summer, I was able to get a look at a structural diagram of the building which displayed 25 floors with a top-floor height of 292'. This was not the final structural height, however. It should break 300', and my guess is in the 325' range for final height.

I guess I don't even get to post my own pics anymore.

great news for the lou. just curious, though...are there still a large number of preexisting buildings ripe for conversion or renovation?

MattnSTL Oct 3, 2007 6:08 PM

Only a few within downtown. Most construction within the next few years will be all new.

New pics from today. Work was already done for the day by the time I made it by. Looks like a fair amount of progress has been made. I can't wait to see the tower crane going up.

Matt, great update once again! I'm back in town tommorow night so I'll get a chance to check it out for myself (THANK GOD), but I did have a question. Are the still working on the same piling/caisson that they were in the first post, and moving the piles of dirt, or have they drilled holes where each pile of dirt is? How big do the caisson/pilings appear to be (diameter)?

This new modern architecture along with the publicplaza with the water feature will really change this park of downtown st louis! I'm so glad it's getting built! It will also hide the ugly backs of the buildings behind it and get rid of a parking lot!!!!!!!!! :)

They are working in the same area, but have drilled a few piers. I think they are going pretty deep, so each one is taking a while. I would assume the diameter is the same as the drill bits you can see laying on the site. I can't tell for sure since they are drilling behind the piles that the drill is making. I'll be by at least once a week, so I will try to see for sure. So far I have caught them on lunch and I got by after they were done today.

Any chance we could change the title of this thread to include 25 stories? That would provide some temporary height figure until we are able to attain the final height of the tower.

LivingIn622 Oct 9, 2007 8:04 PM

that is a pretty small site for the tower being nice size.

MattnSTL Oct 9, 2007 8:16 PM

We also need the name changed to Roberts Tower. No apostrophe.
