Nice to see that those wispy bands going up the side aren't just artistic embellishments, but structural features. The podium's north face seems to have a strong mirror effect. Is that the Four Season's courtyard being reflected?

Nice looking proposals. Stating the obvious, but there's a lot of density planned and under construction for this area. Will be a very noticeable change to the skyline when driving down the DVP in a few years.

Drawing has been made for the taller tower: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=7006
When more detailed renders are released I will update the drawing. |
I really want this to be approved, it would definetly improve the skyline. And soon we'll have to look at the skyline from the east or west!:haha:

From the DRP (Design Review Panel) meeting – March 18th, 2014.
http://www1.toronto.ca/City%20Of%20T...rch%202014.pdf 37 Yorkville Avenue Wallman Architects Minto Group Rezoning Application 2 towers – 55 and 69 storeys Positives - the small parkette - pedestrian mews access to the firehall - setbacks on 37 Yorkville seem to be working - one Member did not have an issue with the proposed density Problems: - Members expressed significant concern with the height and scale of the base building o it feels very massive from the perspective of a pedestrian o the street is only 11-metres wide o the scale and height doesn’t align with planning and urban design policy objectives - the tower floor plates are too large (beyond the recommended maximum) Recommended Refinements: - reduce the tower floor plates - the base building height should come down to be more in scale with the street, and representative of well—established policy/public realm objectives - study the disposition of the two towers, to alleviate issues of overlook - determine if parking requirements can be further relaxed, to help lower the base even further http://i.imgur.com/g1wpVUN.jpg |

What a steaming pile of crap.
Height should not be of concern in this area. It will be such a tragedy if this junk gets approved. |
Doesn't look all that bad. I do like the black/white colour variations - hopefully it'll be black curtainwall or some sort of hybrid system. This one could turn out to look nice!
New heights: The 62-storey tower would be 215 metres or 706 feet, and the 40-storey tower would be 142.5 metres or 468 feet tall. |
Oh my God. The design was fine the way it was. Why in anyone's right mind would they turn a masterpiece into

Considering how rarely real life mimics renders it may be for the best they've gone with a more conservative design. I suspect those metal streamer things could have been messed up pretty badly if they cut corners.
|
I'm still not liking the boxes.
