Excellent series. I need to get back to Hamburg (perhaps when it doesn't look even grayer and darker than London).

Nice!

I love this area.
|
Hamburg have some really nice architecture. Hafencity reminds of Västra Hamnen in Malmö.

i think i saw the ghost of philip seymour hoffman gazing into the canal.
fantastic! |
Great stuff - looks like a brilliant neighbourhood, even in winter.

What a serious piece of contemporary urban design. That last shot alone for example should bring anyone a boner. |
Beautiful shots and Beautiful city!
I would love to visit, maybe split a trip between Hamburg and Amsterdam. Any problems navigating around the city if I only speak English? thanks for sharing! Paul |

Which means you don't get ridiculously drunk or stoned, cause they would feel insulted. I kinda know the Dutch to the French... Don't throw up over their usually clean sidewalks (they're no Parisian with their pitiful dogs shitting all sidewalks without a care), then they will speak some fair English to you, but only if you're a worthy person. Trust me : ) |
^Hey what about the Dutch and the French? :D
Very nice, love Hamburg, such a stylish, diverse city. |
Really need to get to Hammy.

If I go, I'll try to behave myself :) Paul |
Wow! What a change from a few years ago, when there was nothing in this section of Hamburg. They did a really good job.
These Northern European "new city in the old harbor" projects usually come off as kinda sterile and suburban, but Hafencity looks like an A+ project. Great job and 100x better than the Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Stockholm equivalents. Probably the best-looking modern urban neighborhood in Germany. And love the pic of the Speicherstadt; those are some of the most interesting warehouses anywhere. |
Fantastic. More of this please!
|
Thanks everso much for the tour of Hamburg!

I lived in Hamburg for two years and was back recently to visit in December. Thank you for posting all the great photos! I took this photo from my hotel room in St. Pauli. It really shows the impact of the Elbphilharmonie on the Hamburg skyline -

Very nice. My dad's family is from Hamburg.
This woman on the left looks like she could be related to me. She reminds me a lot of my aunt. http://www.iamaberliner.de/bs2011/tl...armonie/03.jpg |
This stairs in the Elbphilharmonie is called "tube" and is at least the largest curved escelator in Europe with a length from more than 80 meter , a ride needs more than 2,5 minutes.By mid of may 2017 the public plaza was visited by more than 2 mio people since the opening in november ,the most visited place in Hamburg an total GERMANY .The concerts counted hundrets of thousands since the premiere in January 9 , all were sold out and will be sold out in the next month. The Hafencity is still u/c with 40% completed and many new projects in the next years. greetings from Germany ;)

Will go to Northern Germany this summer, may be I have the opportunity to visit the Elbphilharmonie.
Only 40% of Hafencity completed? Are there any plans for new highrises/skyscrapers? |
