Concert Properties is planning a 58 floor mixed use skyscraper located on the east boundary of Toronto's central business district.

Not bad. So it looks like they'll be using the historic base of the building, minus what looks to be a more recent addition. From the south elevation, this will be one skinny building, not unlike One King West and Trump.

I've gotta say they've won me over (thus far) Toronto has simply been getting too many modernist inspired* cheap glass condos lately. This is such a refreshment and proposed in a part of town that hasn't seen a lot of action :cool:

Need more renders to form an opinion.

the dimensions, and height to width ratios so far look awesome!!!

Looks good to me, let's get on with some real renders to confirm our assesments.

I always imagined that towers like this only go up in New York. I would like to know how the claddings will work, and what materials they will use to make it look authentic.

The south elevation is dynamite. Crossing fingers for thoughtful detailing even if it's precast (which it probably will be)

Great location for this tower, and I love the setbacks at the top. Though it looks like the skinny face will face the lake, much like One King West. I'd rather the skinny side face east/west, as this would extend the skyline east when viewed from the lake.

As for materials, one would expect to see stone mimicking the historic base on those lower sections, and mid sections, then glass and steel above that. But that remains to be seen until we see actual renders.

From the lake it will appear as though One King has a taller twin brother across the street.

The Gates of Yonge Street.

Sometimes precast can be better than stone. See One Saint Thomas and compare it against Trumps for instance.

Fantastic design, but need to see the cladding.

Nothing special. Looks kind of iffy and has potential to look cheap if poorly executed. Probably about what I would have expected based on elevations. And very typical of a Page+Steele design. The name change will be a lot more attractive to the Asian investors.

I like that they're keeping the historic base to the structure. I wish this could be done with 15 Penn in NYC as well.

I don't like that protruding "box" at the top of the precast section.

Spring 2012 isn't all that far off...

Finally a high rise east of Yonge Street. I can't stress how long I've been waiting for something like this. I would prefer if it were an office tower but i'll take what I can get.

Hopefully this lifts the invisible wall blocking high rises on Yonge Street and we'll see more of these soon
