Can't wait for the tower crane! I'm on vacation for 10 days starting today and probably won't be checking in so expecting to see some nice changes when I return and check back!

Actually the fact that we'll have all these projects that will clearly be under construction on the skyline was kinda a selling point -- it was the advantage that edged us out over Brooklyn for the 2016 DNC.

Don't underestimate the PR impact of Stuff Under Construction. Especially when it comes to politician types.

And NYC is in a constant state of major construction so there would never be a time where any event is held there where there isnt significant disruption due to something being built, demolished or changed. BY comparison the amount of unfinished projects on display in Philly is chump change. Sometimes you can be TOO big for your own good- and that was the case when it came to NY and the 2016 convention.

Nah, I don't think Philly's current construction scene was an advantage and deciding factor in choosing Philly over Brooklyn. Local media reported that the DNC chose Philly over Brooklyn due to logistic and security factors. Also, IMHO, I think Brooklyn got passed over b/c de Blasio is not in favor (because of the recent muck up of protest and ist own NYPD) with the unions right now, who are strong Dem supporters. :notacrook:

Now back to the CITC construction forum: anyone know when the first crane will be installed?

It looks like they almost have the concrete base set for the crane on the west side of the core.....

I would expect within the next week or so.....anyone have something more definitive....

When does the Suburban Station expansion begin, if it hasn't already? Any updates on that?

From what I understand it will be a bit of a stretch to call this an expansion to Suburban Station. They're extending a tunnel so that workers at the CITC can walk underground from the CITC directly to Suburban Station. This tunnel will be of little use to anyone who doesn't work at the CITC and from what I understand it really is just a tunnel, not an expansion of the station.

They are up on the FB page. Not really too much change from last time. Its the calm before the storm in my opinion. It's really about to start taking off. I wouldn't be too surprised if they are waiting for the weekend to install the crane since it will clog up the financial district.

Man, this is growing pretty tall without a tower crane so I hope that they do bring it sometime either this weekend or next.

Tried to get some info and asked 2 workers when the crane was coming in (we all love cranes in the Philly skyline don't we). Neither of them knew but said it must be coming soon.

They are pouring the next floor tomorrow, then there is a 3 day wait for the concrete to cure, then the risers will move up again Saturday or Monday. I don't think they're working Sundays for now.

I know the cranes cost a fortune to rent so I suppose it makes sense to put off installation as long as possible, especially on a project like this which is going to take 2 years to complete.
