I like the massing and the way they break it up, but not a big fan of the neon green and burnt orange/brick red color palette. Other than that, this is a nice, handsome tower.

Nice building.... That area's really filling up.

These are staple Seattle colors right now. Better than transparent glass with tan/beige balconies or slab walls.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully the colors will be changed before it gets built. Outside of that, it's a nice looking tower.

I actually like the colors. It provides a unique character towards the overall design. As an example, the burnt orange and green breaks provides contrast and breaks the monotony of a mostly glass façade.

Rumor has it this will start digging next month. That jibes with the typical five months (or more) needed for a shoring permit. They applied June 19.

Demolition is often well in advance. It removes uncertainty, and also allows them to test soil conditions and contamination before digging.

The scope, btw, is 200 underground parking spaces, 342 apartments, and 142 hotel rooms, on a 14,400 sf site (1/3 acre).

Most of the left overs (Debris in the pic above) is gone. The site is for the most part ready for the foundation work/demo portion.

Messy glazing, spandrel and mullion school needed.

Path America raises funds from foreign nationals through a federal foreign investment program called EB-5. In exchange for investing in projects and businesses that create U.S. jobs, investors get green cards.

Potala Tower, which Seattle architecture firm Weber Thompson designed, is named for a 7th-century Tibetan palace. It will be "a modern sanctuary" with 142 hotel rooms and approximately 340 apartment units, according to a PCL press release. Hotel Indigo will operate the hotel whose lobby will have a restaurant that will feature "a prominent local chef," the release states.

Really "construction starts on tower??"

This project only has permit for digging a hole and shoring up the sides.

It seems a bit loose and misleading to state that construction is starting on "a tower."

It is curious that a developer who has only completed one ground-up project of 4 stories is somehow qualified to build a skyscraper.

Groundbreaking in any shape or form is usually enough for tabloids to assume construction, but often it does not occur right away. This is variable and depends on the project and also who you may ask. For some caissons is a sign of construction, but for others, it may simply be shoring or excavation.

Dargy has raised a lot of money for this, and its essentially financed in the tune of 200 million plus. Just because they focus on low-rises and mid rises doesn't mean that they can't build skyscrapers. :duh

Many developers have portfolios where the structures in the 2-5 story range greatly outnumber highrises and skyscrapers. So you need to check the facts son before you make silly statements.

It seems to be inquiry from someone in Texas ready to do EB-5 and wanting info about Potala Tower. "Landlord" states Turner Construction and cites world class Turner Projects. True or False? Is Potala Tower Turner or PCL?
