TORONTO | 1 Yorkville | 183 M/601 FT | 58 FLOORS
Address: 1 Yorkville Avenue
Developer: Bazis + Plaza Architect: Rosario Varacalli A sneak peak of what`s coming to 1 Yorkville. Image courtesy of Urban Toronto http://urbantoronto.ca/sites/default...9082-31213.jpg Information regarding the façade - tower will feature crimped columns running its full height, and creating a dance of light across the structure's façades: depending on where you view the building from, you'll experience varying effects of light and shadow, and even colour. More information will be available soon I am sure. The proposal would retain the heritage properties fronting Yonge Street (seen here). http://urbantoronto.ca/sites/default...9082-31214.jpg |
That's a beauty. I really like it.
I would like to see it built closer to the CBD. At that height it would work well with all the new proposals along thr Front St / Bremner Blvd area. Still, a very welcome addition in my opinion. |
Unique design for Toronto. Love it. I read (here?) that it's designed with low floor heights.

^Haha, we do share many of the same opinions. No, my point was that in Canada, or at least in Toronto, people know their heights by feet, not metres or centimetres (I have never heard anyone here say, "I am 178 cm".). We also know our weights in pounds, not kilos. Yet we use kilometres and Celsius. It's a mess.

Yeah, you're right. Coming from England I still prefer mph to kmph but in general I would rather use metric than imperial units for most measurements. It is a real hodge-podge of units commonly used though.

Beautiful!
|
this thing is beautiful, should have a podium and should be 200m+.
|
Agreed.

This building shows that it is not hard to take a boxy floor plan and build a beautiful building. It's like turning a canvas into a masterpiece, and I really wish more developers would at least try to make buildings like this when able. Even with balconies it's really not that hard (Aqua in Chicago, for example).
