Did a lightning strike damage Eiffel Tower in 1902?

According to http://www.paris-things-to-do.co.uk/...fel-tower.html in 1902 a lightning strie damaged Eiffel Tower that its topmost 100 metres had to be reconstructed. In my opinion this is impossible under physical points of view. What happened really?

actually it is possible that way. i believe eiffel tower didnt get a best construction engine at that time, and with that height lighting could fire and possibli could damaged a lot on it.
