A Quick Question About Height

One of Toronto's most exciting proposals is Oxford Place, located near the CN Tower. The project, as it currently plans, would include twin towers of exactly the same height.

The question is simple: Do you prefer this, or would you prefer if the towers varied slightly?

EDIT: Again modified, this time switching the heights of the hotels towers to the west of the CN Tower:

I think having the height of twin towers off-set is visually appealing, especially when the towers look the same and have a simple design.

However, for this specific proposal, I think the design of the towers is interesting enough that off-setting their height would just make the final product... too busy.

On some tower pairs, like ICE and MLS the slight difference in height works well. But for these Oxford proposed towers, different heights would really distract from their beauty and not look anywhere near as aesthetically pleasing.

I prefer a varied height, as this works to compliment the centrepiece of the skyline: the Canadian National Tower.

Twin towers of equal height seems to compete with, and even work against, the CN Tower.

Height differences create a much more graceful skyline.

Varied by far.

Depends on the design. In this case, I'd prefer varied.

In a case like Calgary I prefer to see most twins at different heights (like EAP or Centennial), though having one or two sets at the same height (Bankers Hall) looks good. I'd prefer (at least in this city) that any multi-tower projects use different designs for the towers, Calgary has too many twins already.

Varied height IMHO. I don't like twin towers of the same height.

just say NO to twins!...unless they're sexy redheads!

Unless you're the WTC or Petronas Towers, varied.

Edit.

TORONTO SECTION PLEASE.

I prefer the twins. Toronto has no true twin developments, and I think the twins look amazing, even more so than the offset heights.

I'm totally in love with the third rendering!! Toronto's gorgeous!! :worship:

I prefer slightly varied!

I think the third option looks best, but the towers on the right appear a bit too close to the CN tower.

nope. one is slightly shorter than the other, and have slightly differing balcony patterns. Not exact twins.

The king of twins is all fraternal? I think you need to look a little harder.

The drawings I have seen at work indicate something different :)

In terms of the examples you posted, I like the third one more. The first I would say makes the skyline look worse, since the two new towers are so close to the CN tower and so much taller than most other nearby buildings. Having the varied heights creates a much more interesting skyline IMO.

Unfortunately, the first rendering is the actual Oxford Place proposal.

I hope they change it to something akin to the third example. New developments need to work with the CN Tower.
