Why there are Chinese characters in Canada in last photo?

Hamilton doesn’t really have ethnic enclaves like Chinatown. Instead it has International Village, a small section of downtown geared to independent and foreign businesses.

Great looking city!

The Lister Block, Canada’s first indoor mall. It’s very much symbol for downtown Hamilton itself. It was neglected and sat vacant during the 1990s and 2000s and at one point was going to be demolished and replaced. Fortunately it was restored in 2011. It sits in an increasingly gentrified neighbourhood.
