Between Blue and Yellow - Kiev

So far I've presented the Euro tour in chronological order. However, I feel my Romanian sets make a better finale than the shots I took in Kiev, so I'm jumping out of order. See previous sets here:

Norway, Netherlands, Spain, South England, London, Edinburgh, Iceland, France, Bosnia and Serbia.

Kiev was the final stop on my trip last summer. A wild and strange place. I hit some bad luck while I was there, my phone was stolen from the hostel I was staying and I was harassed on multiple occasions by the police. I tried to hit the nightlife but had a hard time finding something that didn't resemble a mafia controlled club. Irish pub with a Maybach parked outside... seems legit. The most popular place I found was called Vodka Bar. Lame name and cheezy music but I've never seen more attractive women in one place. Too bad nearly none spoke English.

The history of Kiev is substantial. The churches I visited were pretty incredible. It was interesting seeing the different interpretations of Orthodoxy from Bosnia, Serbia, Romania and Ukraine. The colorful buildings in Kiev made for an interesting street scene. The subway system hosts some of the deepest stations in the world; escalator rides that last forever. Like the title says, lots of blue and yellow.

Ummm, some Ukrainian rap:

Next up Romania, which will close out the Euro tour.

Great pictures! It's too bad that you didn't have any pictures of these hot women at the Vodka Bar. I'll have to remember that place if I ever make it to Kiev in my lifetime.

As always, you paint such a vivid portrait.

Beautiful photos, Okayyou! Somehow you manage to surpass your standards with every thread.

The buildings in the 2nd shot look they are made of candy or something.

Great thread on yet another place we rarely see around here.

Fantastic photos!

I'm really surprised by the amount of beautifully restored old buildings. In Western Europe Kiev is usually perceived as a city full of commieblocks, hot women and corrupt police. And while the later two are certainly true it looks like people really need to reconsider the first one.

Very cool! Just curious, what did the police hassle you about?
