Yep very similar. The design is not set in stone yet, but they have already altered from their original rendering, adding 3 floors and narrowing the tower. See original rendering from last year:

Not a bad design. I also like the height.

Where in Austin is this building being built? I'm trying to understand if this will contribute to the downtown skyline or not.

Oh great there is an official construction page for 360. Starting June 1st Ill be taking monthly pictures of the progress of 360 and will post them here.

In this picture below, check the link. Follow that middle street bridge across the river up to that short reddish brown building. From there count 3 blocks to it's left, (West), that's where this tower will rise. You should end up on that small lot that is bordered to the left, (West), by a creek.

When the image opens in it's window, click on the image to enlarge it a bit for easier viewing.

This tower will most definitely contribute to the downtown skyline, and yes it is inside Downtown Austin. It may not appear in all the typical skyline pictures, but it will show up in many of them. Several more towers are planned for that area also including a 29-story residential tower just a few blocks away, and a 400 foot 36-story tower 4 blocks to the west. There's also several other infill projects.

Thanks for the clarification Kevin!

This building will be definitely add to the view along the river.

580 feet? wouldn't that make this the tallest building in Austin? I am surprised I haven't seen that mentioned in this thread, I probably just missed it.

Because there is a proposed building that will be taller than this.:haha: In fact, I believe their are two of them. This is a great building, though.

KevinFromTexas May 29, 2006 6:19 AM

Yes, currently this would be the tallest building in Austin by 65 feet, beating the Frost Bank Tower. But there are two 700 footers proposed as well. One is supposed to be "atleast" 705 feet with 47 floors but will likely be taller than that. And the other will be "atleast" 700 feet with 48 floors. Both developers of these two buildings say their buildings will be the tallest in the city.

Exciting times in Austin.

You can read about both new 700 footers in this thread. There's renderings and articles on both here:

Exciting. I drove by tonight, and it looks as though a crew has finally moved to the site. More fencing, signage,
tractors, etc...

James2390 Jun 1, 2006 3:50 AM

It looks better than the typical Novare tower, even though it is a typical Novare tower. I really like the base though.

Jdawgboy Jun 1, 2006 7:42 PM

I should be posting up pictures later on tonight of the start of the construction progress.
