DUBAI | Burj Al Alam | 1,673 FT / 510 M | 108 FLOORS | ON HOLD

The 101F burj al alam (used to be called fortune 101). Finally it's been released :D
I love it. It's Dubaish but is very graceful I think. Is located in business bay and will probably hit 400m!!

Their website is still under construction but you can still see a video if you check it out:

It's a beautiful building. Very nice.

malec Mar 8, 2006 7:34 PM

I've added this to the database and estimated the height as 450m. Could someone draw a diagram of this thing since it's definitely one of the great ones

Fabb Mar 8, 2006 7:48 PM

It's great.
Insanely slender, but great.

TheOldMan Mar 8, 2006 8:07 PM

very futuristic looking. would look great in Dubai w/Burj Dubai and Burj al Arab.

What is the tallest commercial tower in the world ? To the roof, is it still not The Sears Tower? (i dont count spires, otherwise i would guess Taipei 101). from the renderings it doesnt look as tall as Sears. But a very distintive looking building none the less.

Love it. Incredible slender and a flower design as the crown. :)

Cool!

NYguy Mar 9, 2006 12:01 AM

Is it too much to ask that at least the name and height, or a general description be included in the title of the thread? If so, my apologies.

spyguy Mar 9, 2006 12:03 AM

I agree. Keep it standard so we can at least know what we're clicking on.

Nice tower by the way.

Spooky873 Mar 9, 2006 1:10 AM

best one in Dubai IMO.

malec Mar 9, 2006 1:31 AM

The tower is exactly 101F by the way. It's not an estimation

malec Mar 28, 2006 1:23 PM

Tower has been launched. Will post the details when I get back from my music lesson :)

malec Mar 28, 2006 2:54 PM

Now if this doesn't get a new post between today and tomorrow I'll kick all your asses!!! :hell: :hell: :hell:

The tower has been officially launched. Source = http://www.ameinfo.com/81674.html
Website = www.burjalalam.com (it's still under construction but will be up and running in a few days)

Important facts from the article in case you couldn't be arsed reading:

Height: 480m
Floors: 108 (I know I know, I was wrong)
Cost: ~$1.1bn
Construction period: 2006 - 2009
Uses: 74 floors of office
27 floors of hotel and way out of your league serviced apartments
Retail space near the ground

A small render:

Who are the tenants for this and other Dubai buildings? Or are they all mostly speculative projects, financed by oil fortunes?

Most of the Dubai towers are either res of hotel. This tower has just been launched so we don't know who the tenants will be yet.

BTW, this most definitely needs a diagram

Thefigman Mar 28, 2006 5:04 PM

Will 480M be high enough to stay in the top 5 world's tallest with the other construction going on?

malec Mar 28, 2006 5:24 PM

Well, if it gets completed in 2009 it won't even be in the top 5. By then the top 5 will be burj dubai, taipei 101, SWFC, Abraj al Bait and ICC. By then also, the fordham spire, tower of russia and freedom tower (hopefully) will be well on their way
