I like this building, but in this area, it looks like a spaceship;)

This is breathtaking. I really love it.....reminds me of Chicago in 2025 (?) from "I Am Legend"......

Please make sure that any photos you post in this thread are properly credited like this:

1 - Include the photographer's name/screen name.

2 - Include a link to the page where you found the photos. An image link is NOT enough. You must post a link to the actual page where the photo is located.

Also stay on topic. This thread is for construction updates on the building. It's not meant as a place for political debates over Korea.

I wonder if they're having any problems with utilities (electricity to be specific)...that's a HUGE building, and I think the current infrastructure is already pretty strained.
Actually, I like that this building is where it is...makes it that just more interesting to observe.

It's going to have rolling blackouts within itself!

You are thinking of I, Robot. Same actor. Different city.

I'm not sure if he is referring to the structure or the fact that there are no people. The structure could remind him of I,Robot (being that it is futuristic and modern) and the ghost town feeling could remind him of I Am Legend (which was after a zombie apocalypse or whatever). I,Robot was in Chicago and I Am Legend was in NYC.

Sorry about last time. This time I followed the rules. Recent pictures are from 6/5/2011. All credits go to Mike Stuart Wood.

If you look closely all the glass has been put up except for this little silver of glass on the East Wing.

JDRCRASH Jun 15, 2011 3:08 AM

Does this guy also have pictures of the base? Haven't seen up close photos of it in a while.

Roadcruiser1 Jun 15, 2011 3:14 AM

No sorry. There aren't any base pictures, but on the top picture you can see the cranes that are mounted on the base if you look closely.

All fine and nice; only a matter of time before the inevitable collapse of North Korea though.

TANGELD_SLC Jun 17, 2011 6:42 PM

Does anyone know if there are plans to make this building safely habitable?

This tower literally scares the hell out of me. I'm putting on my nerd hat here... it could easily be the Galactic Empire's Sith temple on Coruscant.

We saw that already back in March. It's an outdated photograph. The most recent pictures I have posted are from June.

Bet that the camera had to be review more often than the dude's baggages and isn't it ironic that this super tightly restricted country is letting foreigners taking dozens of pictures. While on the other hand, the American CIA can't barely get anything out of it LOL

But overall, DAM! this tower looks like something out off the future. quite a beauty.

Baro Aug 15, 2011 10:22 PM

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but this is just a 100% cosmetic job for propaganda purposes, the building its self is a lost cause for any sort of habitation or use still right?

Roadcruiser1 Aug 16, 2011 3:09 AM

Nope BBC reported that this building will undergo renovations so it can be used in the future. For now it will just be a shell, because of their economy except for the top which would be used by Orascom for their telecommunications network.

Exactly. They've built entire CITIES with no residents just for propaganda purposes. I have a feeling this building will make no money.
