Beautiful set. Some spectacular scenery out there. Loved the night shots too.
I think this one is my favorite, looks like rough seas:

Awesome.

I went out on a four day bicycle tour in the Davis Mountains, about 125 miles northwest of the park in August. I love the scenery and the desert mountains out there.

Beautiful pictures of west Texas.

Superb photography! Almost fifty years ago I spent a few months in West Texas courtesy of Uncle Sam (Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo). Dark night skies with myriad brilliant stars are among my most vivid memories from that time.

I saw a surprising amount of people doing bicycle touring on the drive in and out. You gotta have nerves of steel to do that on the shoulder of US 90.

The skies are unreal, it was a big reason I wanted to visit. If memory serves, the park is the darkest location in the lower 48 (around 300 miles from the nearest city- El Paso). As a urban dweller, being able to see the milky way with the naked eye never ceases to blow my mind.

Agreed with Okayyou, the shot is spectacular.

We actually rode the stretch of US 90 from Alpine to Marfa. US 90 is on Adventure Cycling's Southern Tier Cross Country Route. I did post a photo thread on my tour back in August.

The beautiful, clear, and unobstructed sky is also another reason why I love to go out there. It is so dark out there, making the Milky Way really brilliant. I am also an urban dweller, so I don't get to see the stars so clearly too often. On our trip we went to the McDonald Observatory both at night and in the day.

Stunning. One of my all time favorite threads. Truly a lesson in 'quality before quantity'.
