Now, trains wind their way through Central Salford's tall buildings on their way into Victoria station.

The unused section of track in the centre of the viaduct in the photo below will soon be re-filled with rail tracks as part of the expansion of Salford Central station. Three new platforms are being built alongside the existing station, and further down the viaduct is being altered this weekend to enable the Ordsall Chord to be built - to link trains from Victoria with the city centre's south side train stations at Piccadilly, Deansgate and Oxford Road.
