I feel like it must have had more to do with the weather and perhaps the fact that everybody was drawn to the nearby Car-Free Day, or had Father's Day brunch plans or something. I work nearby and am often in the area around lunchtime or for after-work drinks and on a sunny afternoon at least it is usually quite bustling - patios filled with people, constant stream of walkers and cyclists along the seawall, and often events happening in the square.

Here's a crappy pic from my phone I took along the shoreline in the Olympic Village from 8:00pm, Thursday, June 5th. Lots of people… they're all drinking or smoking weed but they're there.
