Yes, that area does have some gorgeous homes - the Stuart Neighborhood was one of the original 'suburbs of the village, going back to the 1850s, mostly inhabited by prosperous businessmen, merchants, politicians, etc. and their families. They would ride their horse and buggy into town for shopping, working, entertainment, and church, and then make the 'commute' back home. I've never stayed at the Stuart Ave. Inn, but its architectural style - Italianate / Victorian - is common in the area. As happened in many places, a lot of the original homes were later subdivided into smaller apartment units. Some (like the Stuart Inn) have since been restored back to their original design as single-family dwellings. Stuart has an active Neighborhood Association that has done a lot to help retain the historic character of the area.
