Montreal had a great skyline in the 60's. You can tell from the photos how important it was back then.

The Winnipeg circa 1920 pictures have a similar feel. A collection of buildings like that from that period is exceptional in Canada. Halifax also looks quite vibrant in pictures from 1860 or so, with well-kept high-quality buildings -- you can tell that it was a busy city by then. In later photos from the 20's and 30's it looks much shabbier.
