I think that's why a lot of the major companies in San Diego ARENT downtown. It's unfortunate because if more business was forced to be concentrated downtown, we'd have a lot more commercial demand and possibly a lot more tall office buildings going up. From what I understand, though, major industries here are tech and bio-tech, which need horizontally expansive facilities and labs, which vertical floor space cant really accomodate.
