This year? At this pace it'll be more like 2 more years before we're driving on any portion of the TGH currently "under construction".
The supposed plan to get construction going from the provincial government is obviously not working out. Nice theory - announce tenders in winter, award in spring, work go ahead in summer. The level of foot dragging between the government and then contractors here is off the charts. With our short construction season, a 3 month delay from the awarding of the tender and ANY visible work is unacceptable. Evidently in order to get anything done here a tender for construction needs to be sent out for bids in Sept. for any hope of actual progress in the next years construction season.
Since there's no chance of any paving this year perhaps the govt. will take the time
to research the Federal government paving standards (think Terra Nova Park) and apply those to any work to proceed on the TGH. I'm no civil engineer, but there IS a difference. At least it'll last then - unlike other provincial highways. Sorry for long post - had to vent!
