Despite Some Extreme Examples, Crime Down in Metro

It may not feel like it, but crime is down significantly in the metro region. Drive-by shootings, firebombings and unsolved murders and missing persons seem to frequently to make headlines, but the new chief of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the numbers show a different story.
Chief Bill Janes says break and entry is down 25 per cent in metro, car theft has dropped by 19 per cent and violent crime is down by seven per cent.
That said, there have been several high profile violent crimes, but Janes said most citizens don't have anything to worry about.
