The province today announced it's acquiring the CBC-TV building on Bell Road to support the QEII Infirmary site expansion. The price tag is $4.5 million, which seems reasonable to me. The parcel includes 0.8 hectares and the existing parking lot. Added to the former Queen Elizabeth High School site, it gives the NSHA a lot of flexibility as it moves forward with the QEII redevelopment.

The CBC announcement was a long time coming: it's been rumoured since the redevelopment was announced in April last year. It's a likely site for the new central outpatients facility that was included in the plan. (That's in addition to the community outpatient facility planned for Bayers Lake.)

Apparently This Hour Has 22 Minutes, which is still produced in the Bell Road building, will have until next July to move out.
