It's really amazing to me how many people actually believe that land that has no structures on it is just for the taking as if nobody owns it. You do realize that these tracts of land are usually owned by private entity, right? Your assessment of being able to "easily" take a piece of land is full of ignorance. Just because they have land without a building on it doesn't mean theyre going to automatically sell to the first person who expresses interest in buying. The same business rules apply to them on when to sell as anything else.
