Smile NEW YORK | Mermaids on Parade
The annual Mermaid Parade was nearly cancelled due to the financial effects of hurricane Sandy.

But the spirit of Coney Island proved stronger than the storm. Unlike the Halloween Parade,
there was enough time to pull this one back together.
