I didn't mean to suggest that you weren't "in the know" but rather that from the observation of my friends that reason they just don't get what I/we are saying is because they don't experience what I and others do. Since I've been on both sides as a walker/cyclist and a driver I can tell the difference on how I see and experience my environment.
Look I would love it if someone came up with a plan that works for all involved and would make everyone 100% happy and didn't cost anything...but I haven't heard of a viable alternative plan yet.
