Awesome thread ! You really captured the soul of Vladivostok.
I went there in 2011 and again in 2013, and I agree with you, it's also probably my favorite city in Russia.
It's like the perfect mix between Russian character and international flavor, gritty neighborhoods and new developments. And the city is changing so fast.
When I went there in 2011, there was no bridge, two years later there were these two massive suspension bridges. And countless of new highrises being built.
I can't wait to return to this city : actually one of my future travel plans is to go back to Vladivostok (maybe only by using trains from Nantes, if I'm brave enough) and then take a ferry to Japan (I've never been there, and I've always thought how cool it would be to go there while not taking any plane).
