Milwaukee has a nice farmers market just outside of its downtown. They are in the middle of a huge parking lot too, but all the merchants have their backs to each other so they sort of create an island (I'm assuming this isn't how it's set up here?). I don't mind it being out in the open either... cramming it into an alley seems too claustrophobic.
