I dont think the full conceptual development plan was posted for the commons of mclean. The plans are very nice, one complaint is that it is only residential in this location as there is the existing retail adjacent, but that shopping center they are referring to is really nothing to write home about. Its a standard 1 story strip mall which has a decent grocery store and one nice beer/restaurant. For 2200 residents I think most of those residents will want more options than one local restaurant bar not to mention will be an economic engine for retail in the vicinity. This will be interesting to see if they will begin phase I by the time metro is up and running or to see if during the zoning process they will be hammered for being residential only. I think its important that it atleast isnt just another office park, but its a shame if they didnt make these structures a couple extra stories taller and add retail components.
